I started taking pictures of bands in early 1980's Ottawa - Deja Voodoo, Restless Virgins, Sex Gang Children, The Cult (on their first North American date), and numerous other local and international acts. After moving to Saskatoon I continued to take pictures of bands (39 Steps, Love and Rockets, etc) and occasionally had photos used in magazines and record covers, but over time I took fewer and fewer pictures. In 2002 I bought my first digital camera and returned to shooting live performances, including Toronto-based Flamenco companies Ritmo Flamenco and Arte Flamenco. Those photos were used for posters, CD covers, and related materials. In 2003 I travelled to London to see Lee Scratch Perry's Meltdown Festival and shot a number of the shows for the BBC 6Music Web site. In 2004 I relocated to Vancouver and began reestablishing myself in the local music and arts community. Most of my time and my heart is spent documenting the local music scene with indie bands. The Gallery page shows some of my favourite work. The Recent Shots page displays a regularly updated selection of new images. Rock Stock and Two Smoking F-Stops is a daily photoblog of new photos. |
